How to upscale a short video to 1080p, 2K, or 4K

Video upscaling produces a larger frame, while frame interpolation adds intermediate frames. They are different changes. A higher frame rate can look smoother, but it can also distort fast movement. Start with the original clip and choose the output size your actual destination needs.

Open AI Video Upscaler

Before you start

Use an MP4, MOV, or WebM clip within the tool's current upload limits. The tool accepts clips up to 60 seconds; check the displayed file-size limit before uploading. Keep the original audio and source file for comparison, and avoid repeatedly compressing the clip before processing.

Step by step

  1. Upload the short clip

Open the video upscaler, sign in when prompted, and upload the file. Wait for the tool to read its duration and dimensions before making a decision about the estimate.

  2. Choose the output resolution

Select 1080p, 2K, or 4K in Customize. A larger output uses more processing; it does not guarantee an equally large improvement in visible detail.

  3. Set frame rate and processing mode

Start with the Standard preset. Choose 60 fps only when smoother motion is useful. Select the scene that best fits the source, such as general footage or AI-generated material.

  4. Review the quote and process

The points estimate depends on clip length and settings. Confirm the displayed estimate before starting, then download and play the completed result rather than judging only its poster frame.

Before and after

Two-second pans over AI-created photos, processed with the video upscaler. Play both clips to compare motion.

What to check in the result

Watch faces, fingers, moving text, thin edges, and objects crossing in front of one another. Pause difficult frames, but also watch at normal speed to catch flickering and unstable textures. Check the output dimensions, frame rate, duration, and audio in a media player.

If the result needs another attempt

If movement warps after interpolation, try a lower output frame rate. If compression artifacts become more obvious, start with a less compressed original. The examples below use short pans over AI-created photographs so their input and output remain easy to compare; they are not camera footage or a promise of the same improvement on every clip.

Generation does not start until you choose the tool's processing action. Availability, free allowances, and point estimates appear in the tool; review them before starting.
