How to upscale an image by 2× or 4×

Upscaling increases pixel dimensions. A 600 × 400 image becomes 1200 × 800 at 2×, or 2400 × 1600 at 4×, subject to provider limits. That gives you a larger file to work with, but AI cannot guarantee that newly inferred texture matches details the original camera never captured.

Before you start

Find the best available original instead of a screenshot or a thumbnail downloaded from a message. Look at the image at its native size first: you want to know whether softness comes from low resolution, compression, or camera blur. Upscaling cannot solve all of those equally well.

Step by step

  1. Upload one image

Open the image upscaler and add a PNG, JPEG, or WebP. Complete sign-in if prompted, then return to the tool.

  2. Pick a source preset

Detailed photo is a sensible starting point for an already clear photograph. Small compressed image suits a tiny source. The portrait preset adds face-specific processing, which can change facial detail.

  3. Choose 2× or 4× in Customize

Use 2× for moderate enlargement and 4× when the destination needs substantially more pixels. High Fidelity suits detailed photos, Low Resolution targets smaller sources, CGI suits artwork, and Text Refine focuses on lettering.

  4. Process and inspect at full size

Check the displayed allowance or estimate before choosing Upscale image. Compare the result at 100% and check the downloaded file's dimensions.

What to check in the result

Pay particular attention to eyes, teeth, product labels, logos, and small lettering. Sharp-looking text can still spell the wrong thing. For a print, divide the pixel width by the intended inches to calculate pixels per inch; for example, 2400 pixels across eight inches gives 300 pixels per inch.

If the result needs another attempt

If skin looks artificial, disable face enhancement or use a more conservative model. If a damaged thumbnail develops invented textures, try 2× and a better original. Use photo enhancement when the image is already large enough and you want to improve its appearance without enlarging it.

Generation does not start until you choose the tool's processing action. Availability, free allowances, and point estimates appear in the tool; review them before starting.
